Maroc Blog Awards 2008

We blog in Moroccan Arabic (Darija), Berber (with its different dialects), classical Arabic, French, English and Spanish among many other languages.
We talk politics, economics, languages, arts, IT and even complete nonsense among many other categories.
We *deserve* blog awards!
What?
The first competition for Moroccan bloggers: Maroc Blog Awards 2008.
Seventeen Moroccan bloggers, seventeen categories and seventeen prizes.
There is no jury to have the final say in the competition, it’s *your* decision to determine who wins.
This competition is a great way to draw attention to the Moroccan blogging scene, and it will hopefully expose us all to other new blogs.
Who?
The organization committee is no other than the famous Blogotour founders, namely: Younes Qassimi, Mehdi Reghai and Ahmed Chergaoui.
Where?
Maroc Blog Awards.
When?
December 5th, 2007 through January 26th, 2008.
What to do?
Step 1: Nominations
Nominate your favorite blogs through the available form on the Awards’ website, starting now until December 26th. Everyone can participate in the nominations (bloggers and non-bloggers), but only once, to suggest up to 5 blogs, with a category for each blog of course.
You can nominate many blogs for the same category, but you can’t nominate the same blog for many categories.
The nominated blogs should be by:
- Moroccan bloggers living in Morocco or abroad.
- Foreign bloggers living in Morocco, or blogging about Morocco.
Step 2: The final
There will be 3 nominees in the final for each category, based on the number of their nominations in that category. The list of nominees will be announced on January 3rd, 2008.
Everyone can then start voting for the best of the best, choosing one blog among the 3 finals for each category. The blog with the biggest number of votes in each category wins.
The organization committee will only count the votes, and perform usual organization tasks; no involvement in the process of deciding who wins.

Here are the main categories for this first edition of Maroc blog Awards 2008. Their names are self-explanatory; I am keeping them in French as well since the form is available in French only for the moment being.
- Best Moroccan Blog 2008 — Meilleur Blog Marocain 2008
- Best Writing Style – Meilleur Écrit
- Best Rookie (or new blog) — Meilleur Rookie (ou nouveau blog)
- Best Teen Blog — Meilleur Blog Ado
- Best Solidarity Action — Meilleure Action Solidaire
- Best Collaborative Blog — Meilleur Blog Collaboratif
- Best Thematic Blog — Meilleur Blog Thématique
- Best Political Blog — Meilleur Blog Politique
- Best IT Blog — Meilleur Blog IT
- Best Linguistic Blog — Meilleur Blog Linguistique
- Best Blog in Arabic — Meilleur Blog en Arabe
- Best Blog Design — Meilleur Design de Blog
- Best Photoblog — Meilleur Photoblog
- Best Music Blog — Meilleur Blog Musique
- Best Artistic Blog — Meilleur Blog Artistique
- Best Humor Blog — Meilleur Blog Humoristique
- Best Podcast — Meilleur Podcast
Critics:
First of all, since it’s about the best blogs of the year 2007, why name the awards “Maroc Blog Awards 2008“?
Why have information and updates about Maroc Blog Awards on Blogotour’s website? That confuses me personally. Keep Blogotour for its purpose, and have everything related to the awards’ event on its own website.
I think there could be a better list of categories, but I won’t be hard on the organization committee who is doing a great job already just by starting this initiative. I hope -and I am sure- that this event will be a huge success.
So… Go start your campaigns! ;)

Et non, désolée, tu peux pas me dicter quel blog je ne dois pas nominer. ;)
Mais si tu es sérieux, tu peux demander au comité d’organisation d’éliminer ton blog de la compétition avant la finale, car c’est difficile de contrôler les nominations, je suppose.
